Cockatiel/Parakeet Question??

I just went and got a young Parakeet Friday. I already have a 9 month old cockatiel. I have the parakeet in its own cage and everything, but everytime I let him out to exercise he wants to get into my cockatiels cage. I know that I have to keep them apart for a while just in case the other one has something wrong with it, but after a while should it be alright to let my parakeet in the cage with my cockatiel. I have introduced my cockatiel to the other bird and they seem to get along for right now. Are there certain things I should watch for if I do decide to let the parakeet in the cage with the cockatiel. Oh! The cage is big enough for both of them. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I have actually had parakeets and cockatiels, It really depends on the temperament of your cockatiel If it often bites you or anyone else, it really isn’t a good idea but if you birds are both well tempered and don’t bite unless your doing something like flipping them upside down or something they don’t necessarily like then they should be fine together.

I have actually put my parakeet snowflake in with my cockatiel Shakespear and they get along just fine, All you have to do to make sure they wont fight is keep them seperated for a while then move their cages closer together and over time move them directly next to each other, And if they don’t seem to fight or hiss or any of that they should be okay in the same cage.
