Should I get a male or female blue/gold macaw?
My grandpa breeds birds and is letting me choose a blue macaw to have. He has males and females. I’m 15 so i don’t think i can deal with egg binding but is that really a major factor or is it rare?
@ brucemoko my dad lives about 30 min away from the college i plan to go to so thats not a problem i can leave him there until i get my own house.
Egg binding is much more common in the smaller, high clutch size parrots such as budgies and cockatiels. I’d worry more about adopting a large bird shortly before you’re likely to leave home and may be unable to take it with you.
