Cockatiel Diet – Is Your Pet Having Enough Food? by Thomas Roberson
Having a pet cockatiel is great and it also means considering cockatiel diet. It is a very significant aspect of having one of these pets in your home. These birds call for proper attention and nourishment for it thrive longer and healthier. A cockatiel’s health significantly depends in its diet thus you need to be particular with it. In the wild, birds eat anything they find that is appropriate for their appetite. As much as you can, give them foods resembling their natural food.
The good thing about cockatiel diet is that they can gobble human foods, thus anything you eat, it can also take. They are also fed on seeds, flowers and fruits such as berries and nuts too. They have the ability to survive on seeds and pellets if these are the only food available for them. Cockatiels do not require a particular food but need certain nutrients. They need fruits and veggies as additions in the cockatiel diet.
Your pet cockatiel can grow depending on its nutrition. Aside from that, its reproduction, development, longevity and nature can likewise rely on its diet. Consequently, a balanced and good diet is very important towards a vigorous pet cockatiel. This is how important your pet’s diet is and you should not overlook aspect so that you will enjoy your pet longer.
Balanced cockatiel diet include veggies, pellets and seeds together with fruits, nuts, proteins, cooked rice, bean mixture, corn, pasta, cheese, cereal and other human foods. A cockatiel’s food must be regularly comprised of 60 percent pellets. Some of them mainly depend and live on a pelleted diet. Always remember to place pellets in your pet’s food dish when you feed them. They are essential for a nourishing and balanced cockatiel diet.
Apart from pellets, they feed on canary seeds, oats, mixed sunflower seeds and hemp and panicum millets. But remember that when you grant your pet cockatiel with seed diet alone, it has the tendency to lead to a diet imbalance especially in terms of vitamins and minerals in their small bodies. Consequently, a vitamins supplement must be added to your pet’s diet.
Take not of this. A balanced mixture of cockatiel diet should contain the following. 25% vitamin enhanced seeds, 25% green leafy vegetables as well as fruits, 25% pellets, beans assortment, 10% cereal, 15% corn that is cooked, rice, pasta, cheese, meat, bread and other human foods that they can gobble. Of course, water is as essential as the above-mentioned foods.
