How long do sun conures live for?
How long do sun conure birds live if you take care of them well? And what must you do to make sure the bird will live as long as possible?
If you take care of them, they should live about 25 to 30 years. You need to make sure you keep their wings clipped (an unclipped bird will ALWAYS escape if given a chance, no matter how well you think they’re trained), give them a varied diet that includes fruit, vegetables, a good seed mix, and make sure they have clean water every single day. You should also take them for a check-up with an avian vet at least once a year.
Don’t burn scented candles or incense, don’t smoke (anything — cigarettes, weed, cigars), don’t spray aerosol air fresheners or cleaners, don’t use space heaters that have exposed elements (FUMES are given off and they will KILL your bird within minutes).
Give your bird plenty of out-of-cage time — a playful bird is a healthy, happy bird.
