How can I help my parakeet?
My parakeet was recently attacked by our cat while I was at school. My mom quickly got the bird away from the cat. However, there is a giant cut were she was attacked under her left wing. My mom and I have taken her into the vet already, and we are putting an antiseptic on it. Now, she is picking at her wing, leg, and left chest area. the cut has worsened since she began picking at it, and I think its due to the stress of her injury. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to keep her from picking at her injured wing?
You can use a foam neck collar to stop her picking at herself, ring your vet & ask, we han one for a cockatoo I rescued who self mutilated badly. Ask the vet they will advise you on something like that for free. Try to distract your bird too, you cant always be there though. I dont knoew how to make one for a bird so small thats why I suggest you speak to the vet that treated your bird. Well done getting the bird to the vet & caring well for him. Dont feel bad accidents happen just be more careful next time!
