Parakeet Talking?
I know how to teach my parakeet to talk and I know that males tend to be more vocal, I know all that good jazz. But I also know that some species of bird start talking after a certain age, are parakeets the same?
I have already started teaching my bird to talk, I constantly repeat the same phrase I’m trying to teach him (pretty bird), I know that hard sounds are easier to learn and I know that talking depends on the bird.
Don’t just repeat yourself all the time. This wont make the bird learn to talk. This just makes them look at you like you’re an idiot
Just say the phrase every time the bird does a certain action or every time you walk in the room (say it in the same voice as you’d say “hello”). To get mine to say “pretty bird”, I waited until they were done preening (usually after a bath) and then say “pretty bird!”. It took a couple weeks but now every time they’re done preening or get out of the shower, they say “pretty bird! I’m a PRETTY BIRDIE!”
