The choice of a macaw that is right for your family can be difficult. Pet stores these days can tend to focus more on profits than raising a healthy and well adjusted Macaw. So I thought I'd give three tips to look for when buying a macaw.
Tip # 1 – Stay Educated
Before buying a macaw that really need to make sure you know what you're getting into. A macaw can be an excellent selection of parrot pet, and it is not as temperamental or can shout too much like a cockatoo, but can also tend to have a greater need to destroy things that, for example, a Quaker or Conure parrot.
So I like giving advice to people to websites that research is accurate about parrots. A good place is my blog that I link below. I have recently begun to hire specialists in the behavior of parrots to write weekly articles about what you really need to raise parrots in my blog, and I think you'll find that information.
Tip # 2 – Departure Diet
Many owners of a pet store knowingly feed their parrots 100% of diets based on seeds. This is a BIG warning sign as a diet of seeds of all bases of such a parrot to become very demanding and a dining room has been known to cut the lifespan of domestic parrots half.
Instead look for a shop feed your birds a mixture of pellets, (no color), along with fruits, vegetables and, preferably freshly made bean mixtures.
This way you will know if The store owner is really willing to put extra time and energy needed in the planting of a macaw healthy, because let's be honest, it takes more time to maintain a healthy parrot, making it available for download only part of the seed in his bowl and call it good.
Tip # 3 – Ask for a checkup
Be sure to negotiate with the owner of the pet store for a checkup before he sells you a href = "http://www.birdtricks.com/macaws.html"> macaw. Many stores are not clean and macaws can get nasty virus that can often lead to death. And you do not want to be on the wrong end of a virus, with a macaw dead who just paid $ 1,500 for, and not be able to get a refund.
To ensure that you do not get into this jam is to ensure that owners stores are dismissed in some agree that before you get a full medical check before you buy it, or in a few days of purchase, whereas if The sick bird store ends up being responsible for giving a refund, or pay medical expenses.
These are just a few of the many things you can do to make sure you purchase a Macaw that doesn’t cause you all sorts of trouble in the future. Be sure to check out my Parrot Blog.
