Buying a parrot from a pet store?
I’ve been looking into buying a macaw from my local pet store (Petland) that has been on sale for few months already. The only thing is I’ve heard awful things about how these birds are brought to north america (illegal trade, inhumane treatment, etc) and I want to make sure that I’m not supporting these things by buying the parrot. Can I ask someone at the pet store about how the parrot was taken here, or if it was bred in captivity and things like that? And what are the chances of them lying to me about it’s history? Would I be better off going to a smaller, maybe non-chain pet store even if they charge a bit more money?
The parrot is selling for around 2400$ canadian. Does this seem like a reasonable price?
Thanks so much!
By the way, I may sound pretty inexperienced in the whole bird area, but my grandfather had a blue macaw that I got to take care of often when he went to the hospital, so I am aware of how to care of the parrot, just not what to expect when I am buying it!
NO that is a terrible price petland is way over priced look for a breeder it will be cheaper and in much better health and you know its not illegal
