budgies parakeets
I want to raise a bunch of budgies/parakeets then set them loose. Will they come back?

Plnning to buils a large cage with say 20 budgies / parakeets. Then after about a month, I dismantle the cage and set them free. Will they hang around my house and keep coming back as free birds to the cage area for their food or will they fly away and starve or this is a completely crazy idea and should not be done? Or what birds ( other than piegeons ) can I do this with? I live in the tropics so please dont tell me to keep ostriches. Thanks

domestic birds such as budgies have evolved into dependent pets and will not survive in the open. An Avery or cage is not only for us to keep them in but it also protects them from predators and weather. Wild budgies look alot different from pet budgies and are genetically different, this is why they are designed to survive in the wild. Try getting your self some native plants and feeders and attract the native wild birds to your garden. If you want free range garden birds try some chickens.
