Do parakeets(budgies) get along with African greys in a cage?
or wat birds get along good with parakeets? Id rather get a african grey though!
Bird of differnt sizes cannot live together! Even if these two birds seemed to be getting along, it would only take a moment for things to change. You would never be able to react quick enough!
Birds need thier own space, and can get territorial and fight. In the “wild” bird can fly away if they are threatened by another bird, but in a cage there is nowhere to go.
Besides, there is no cage you would be able to get(bar spacing) that would be big enough for an african grey, yet have the bars close enough together to prevent the budgie from getting out.
Large parrots are expensive and time consuming. I hope you are looking up as much info as possible. It is a large jump to go from owning a budgie(does not require as much time, care and money) to a large parrot which had the needs of a three year old. My budgies cost me about $20 a month in fresh veggies/fruit, pellets, seeds, etc. My larger bird(which is a conure – no where near the expense of an African Grey) cost is about $50-$60. My research on African greys(as I plan on getting one when I am finacially stable in a few years) show their monthly expense to be at least $100. Cost are far different between a parakeet and a large parrot.
